Since July I have been working on a short video to show the amazing technologies that are changing the dental industry. I chose this subject because I find it fascinating how much tech has affected our lives.
The first thing I needed to do was research! I found this really enjoyable as the British Dental Association (BDA) put me in touch with the wonderful Professor Damien Walmsley. We spoke throughout the process so as to make sure I was including the best new tech!
When it came to filming I did find myself up against a few obstacles. This is because a lot of the work that is currently being done has a level of secrecy to it as well as access to institutions that are closed for certain periods of time.
I loved filming and editing but what was really fun was speaking to the scientists and dentists about their work and the future of dentistry. Anne Young, a professor of biomaterials at UCL really stood out to me. Anne explained that much of the research and materials her team create at the Eastman Dental Institute can actually be used to aid other parts of our body, such as your spine.
I hope you learn something from watching the video and if you have any questions please comment below!
